Since 1905, Sartor Hamann Jewelers has been the place that people think of first for those special times in their lives. Mr. Ernest Sartor founded the first store which became Lincoln, Nebraska's first fine jewelry store. A family tradition of fine quality, outstanding expertise and personalized service began. Today, Sartor Hamann continues those family traditions in Lincoln, Grand Island and Fort Collins, Colorado.
In 1955, Mr. Bill Hamann joined Mr. Sartor and created Sartor Hamann. Mr. Hamann's expertise in watch and jewelry repair and design created a perfect compliment to Sartor's gem expertise. Lauren Hamann, (Bill's nephew) joined the company and soon began doing much of Sartor Hamann's design and crafting work which he continues to enjoy. Lauren is past president of Sartor Hamann, and his expertise as a registered jeweler, watchmaker, goldsmith, and diamond setter are all great assets to the company.
In 1957, Don Hamann (Bill's son) graduated from the University of Nebraska and came on board as Bill's partner. Mr. Sartor sold his share and Sartor Hamann became a Hamann family company. The Sartor name was left because of the tradition it held in the community. Don soon was running the day-to-day operations and oversaw the expansion from one store to two, and later to the current five stores.
Don has become highly recognized on the American jewelry industry scene. In 1964 and 1965, he was elected as the president of the Nebraska-South Dakota Jewelers Association. In 1979, he had the honor of being elected president of the 15,000 member Jewelers of America Association in New York City. Today, Don is the leader of Sartor Hamann as well as owner and CEO.
Don's son, Mr. Rick Hamann, graduated from the Geological Institute of America in 1981 and came to work for Sartor Hamann as a Graduate Gemologist. He soon found his real love to be on the sales floor and has been there ever since.
Today, Sartor Hamann continues to provide the finest in engagement ring and diamond selection at the best values anywhere in the country.
